About

typewriter on text background

I believe in the power of words, written, spoken and unspoken. I believe what we write and what we create unleashes who we are, even to our own surprise.

I’ve been a freelance writer, worked in corporate communications and media relations, spent some time as a newspaper reporter, and for a change of pace, served as a case manager for people with developmental disabilities. Today my writing is mostly blog posts and chapters in my novel.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you enjoy what you find.

    1. Thanks for the idea on the blog post! It was a winding and not always easy course to “get my foot in the door,” so I don’t know where writing about it might take me…it could end being more than one post! Congratulations on getting your masters. That’s a lot of hard work!

  2. “I believe in the power of words” is a line I used myself in a graduate school essay about why I wanted to be an English teacher. I like that you mention both the spoken and unspoken. Those unspoken words can be a burden. I enjoy your writing; I have gone through a few posts now and appreciate your thought-provoking words.

      1. I finally decided to set up a separate page for awards. In this way it doesn’t process in the same way as a post…at least in my theme. Yet I can still link people and blogs involved. I will say that it has taken me a looong time to answer the questions, so I made my questions super-easy, like “What is your favorite food?”

        1. I like you! Part of my hesitation has been answering those questions, then coming up with more, and then of course who do I nominate??? I get too stressed out over something that should be fun, so that’s when I give up!

    1. Annie, first, thank you so much. I can’t say I’ve declared my blog award-free, but I always get so hung up on the awards. I never know what to do or how to handle them, so I don’t really respond…I probably just should say “award free” but I haven’t had the courage to do it yet (I think I need to create a graphic https://widgets.wp.com/notifications/2062978188#that says “award free — but thank you for thinking of me!”)

      1. That’s what I’ve seen some people do on their blog – put a widget to notify readers that their blog is award-free.
Please don’t get pressurised by this nomination… Please know I appreciate our exchanges on WP.

    1. Thank you! I will definitely check that out. I’m away from home now and access to a computer is limited, so please forgive me if it takes a day or two. My phone just doesn’t do it for me when it comes to blogging!
