Mimi’s been a bit of a chunk for some time now. I’ve tried cutting back on her food, but she still doesn’t lose any weight. And yes, I know, cats need to lose weight slowly. I say, more to love, more to snuggle with. She hasn’t gained any weight in a long time, at least.
She’s my sweet baby and I love every ounce of her. But we’ll still try the diet thing.
You might notice the wicker chair right behind her that she and Walter have successfully scratched down to the post. They’ve moved on to the other wicker chair now. They have a scratching post, but I guess there’s nothing like a wicker chair.

Oh Belinda–I had to laugh at ‘fat Mimi.’ There is just a lot of her. She is adorable.
Like yours, mine have scratching posts but like the furniture better. I’m beyond trying to salvage the living room chairs, but geez Louise, those little claws can scratch!

I tried to keep them off the chairs, but it was a futile effort. I don’t trim their claws, so they are always sharpened and ready to go!

It is amazing how cats run our lives. Mine sometimes mine looks at me like ” old man you need to pick up the pace”. This happens usualy when it time for her to eat!

Yeah, they do have the run of the place. Especially around mealtime!

Oh, Mimi! What a sweetie! My parents’ have a big 25-pound chonker named Owen who’s also been (unsuccessfully) on a diet for 10 years. There’s just more to love, I guess! 🐱

25 pounds! Wow! Yes, it does add to the snuggle factor–although I have no idea if Owen is a snuggler. It’s hard to get cats to diet.

Owen is a big snuggler. He’s jump on your lap and try to lay across your shoulders… not realizing how heavy and awkward he is. He’s a sweet boy, though, and it looks like Mimi is too!

I am sure Mimi will continue to be an awesome snuggler at any size. I definitely get the fact those wicker chairs have cat appeal. If I was a cat I’d be clawing away at them.

Yeah, the wicker chairs were made to be scratching posts. I’m just glad a friend gave them to me when she was done with them–I didn’t spend a penny on either one, except to buy new cushions (which the cats have also appropriated). And yes, I have no doubt Mimi’s snuggling will continue regardless of whether she loses, gains, or stays the same 😊
