Some of you have asked how my dad is doing, and sadly, he died Monday night. I am heartbroken. I’ve written before about his love for life and his active lifestyle. He believed staying active was key to living longer, but cancer doesn’t accept that hypothesis. It was pancreatic cancer and just three months after his diagnosis, he was gone. Before that, his golf scores had been lower than ever and his bowling scores higher.
He was one of the biggest supporters of my blogs. It will be difficult to resume writing for awhile (although I may manage to fit in some Caturday posts). I appreciate the support of the blogging community. It means a lot.

My heart goes out to you, Belinda. I’m so sorry. You’re mom must also be heartbroken, and that is so hard to see. Prayers for peace during this difficult time.

My mom is heartbroken, but it’s a different situation than you might imagine. They’ve been divorced for almost 50 years. My mom was surprised by her reaction to the news that he was sick. Now it seems her memory is failing her and I have to tell her every day that he died. It’s a challenge, to say the least.

I’m so sorry, Belinda. Thank you for explaining your even more devastating situation – losing both your parents. Dementia is a day to day incremental loss of the person your mom used to be. My heart really goes out to you!

I understand. I felt that way with my mother. It was like losing my best friend. 😦
I even wrote a song about it.

You write such lovely songs. I’d love to hear that one–although I don’t know how you would share it.
