Happy Birthday, Beth!

Tomorrow is my sister’s birthday. She’s a year younger than me, and we’re completely different. We look different, have different interests and in many ways, a different outlook on life.

For reasons of her own, she’s been out of contact with the family for many years now. We miss her. She will always be my sister and I love her.

I don’t know if she reads this blog or even knows it exists. If you do (well, even if you don’t), Happy Birthday Beth!  I hope your day and your year are filled with unexpected blessings.

Love, Belinda

    1. It is, and I need to respect her decision even though I don’t completely understand it. I just hope, and the thought is on my mind often as our parents age, that she doesn’t regret it someday.

  1. Belinda, how sweet of you to make this gesture and I do hope and pray your sister is happy and well regardless of the lack of communication. I don’t know if I shared this earlier but I am an only child and my parents divorced when I was 16. I never saw or heard from my father ever again after the divorce. I forgave him for that but waited too long to track him down to tell him. I also for whatever reason never discussed the possible reasons with my mother who you may recall also passed away recently. Families are complicated…just like people.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s painful when someone is gone and the opportunity truly has slipped by. At the same time, it’s an uneasy feeling knowing the answers could bowl you over. Hard for me to imagine what would be worse than that total loss of contact, especially at that age, but who knows. Thank you for sharing. I want the best for my sister and I trust she knows what that is.

      1. Thanks for the kind words Belinda. It likely sounded worse in text than it is in the heart. I really have no animosity and the only regret was that I didn’t make the first move with my father and tell him that for whatever reason, whether he wanted forgiveness or not, he was forgiven. I am sure your sister knows you want the best for her!
