Today’s the day we join with cat lovers worldwide to celebrate our feline friends. It’s International Cat Day, whose main goal is to keep cats safe, stop cruelty, and find homes for stray pets. As someone whose last three cats have been strays, I can tell you, they make the best pets. They’re grateful for every day they spend in a safe, secure home (okay, after awhile, maybe they do get a little spoiled).
Walter and Mimi join me in thanking all of you who care for and love your cats. Some of you, we know, have had kitties in the past but are no longer able to do so, and we thank you as well for the example of love you’ve provided to the rest of the world.

I never get tired of celebrating cats in all their glory, and of course this is a day to also remind us of those who are awaiting their forever homes. My wish and prayers are that they will all find them soon. Happy International Cat Day to you, Walter, and Mimi!

Oh! I had no idea! We’ve been caring for our daughter’s cats while she’s away for the weekend and they are wildly entertaining. If I’d known it was their “special day” yesterday, they might’ve demanded extra treats, LOL. I’ll need to apologize to them and explain my ignorance!

I think cats believe every day is their special day, so celebrating a day late will make sense to them! It’s sweet of you to care for your daughter’s cats. I have a friend who watches over Walter and Mimi when I’m out of town, and I so appreciate it. I had to board them once and while Mimi did okay, Walter did not. Poor baby! But you’re right–cats are wildly entertaining!

Oh…I’m with you. We will happily do the “kitty sitting” when needed. Cats are so sweet, sensitive and aware and even when boarding seems okay, it feels risky.
