The cats had their annual exams this week, and in preparation for the always traumatic trip to the vet, I pulled out the carriers. They sat in the living room so the cats could get used to them, and Walter immediately set about checking both over. That was Friday night. By Saturday night, he was sleeping in one off and on. This picture was taken Sunday, and you can see he’s pretty comfortable.
Monday, the day of the exams, was another story…

What a wise idea to bring out the carriers a few days in advance! Walter certainly looks at ease (at least while the carrier is in your living room…)

He was very happy with it while it was in the living room! I think it made dropping him in on Monday morning easier. However, he was pretty scared during the rest of the trip.

Poor kitties. I have to give my black cat, Rémy has to take a pill because she gets so stressed out, I can’t even get her in the carrier.

Poor thing! Neither one of you looks forward to that.

That sounds very stressful for all of you! I hope they had a productive visit, and at least you have another year until you go through this again, Belinda.

Actually, I may have to take them back before a year is up. Both have health problems. Hopefully not serious, but it’s the start of something.

Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear that, Belinda. Keep us posted.

Belinda, I am sorry they both have health issues. Hopefully not serious as you mentioned. What is it about carriers? They take on a whole new personality when it’s The Day. Cats just know. Walter does seem to be quite comfy in there with the pink towel/blanket. Hopefully if there are issues they can be taken care of easily. I will be thinking about you and those two sweet little Fuzz Faces.

Thank you so much. Walter has a slight heart murmur and both potentially have early stage kidney disease. More tests needed to determine if that’s actually the case. I guess heart murmurs are graded on six levels and Walter is at the lowest. So not the worst news. They are getting older, so I guess this is to be expected.

How DO they know…when it’s time to go — for real? Cats are so darn smart, aren’t they? Hugs and love to both Walter and Mimi! 😊💝😊

In my case, I have a friend who helps me get them in the carriers, so I think that tips them off. Of course, that’s not the only reason she’ll come to my place, so I guess their intuition kicks in–or the math adds up (carriers + Madlyn = eek!).
