When I was in high school, we had a beautiful long-haired black cat named Salem. My mom still mourns for her.
In my area, shelters won’t let anyone adopt a black cat in October, for fear of what may happen on Halloween. Or after, when party people may just abandon the precious kitties.
If you have a black cat, I consider you very lucky!!

Very smart of your local shelters to protect black cats in October. Poor little ones need all the protection they can get. Such a sad commentary on life, though, isn’t it?

It really is. I try not to get down thinking about such people and just pray for the safety of the kitties.

Salem sounds like such an exceptional kitty! I am so sorry that black cats have been exploited on Halloween – that makes me sad.

It makes me sad, too. My next door neighbor has a sweet little black kitty who slipped outside last fall and he was panicked–but it all ended well. Thank goodness!

The all-black cats I have seen in person look so cool. I had a friend who had one, and that kitty was the most friendly feline. Here’s to black cats and their owners everywhere!

Here here! I guess the shelters have a hard time adopting them out, but I’d take one in a heartbeat. If I didn’t already have two cats that demand all my attention!

It is pre-ponderous that they even have to do so.
